ABOUT US
The Year of
a Winemaker
In the upcoming video series, I warmly invite you to join me on a journey through the rhythm of our wine year. Together, we will walk through the rows of our vineyards, step inside the cellar, and explore the heartbeat of our daily work—from the very first spring shoots to the excitement of the harvest and the quiet precision of aging.
Preamble by Marie Menger-krug
Working in the vineyard and cellar is so much more to me than simply preserving tradition—I have the privilege of carrying our family's story into its eighth generation, always guided by my own innovative spirit.
With Motzenbäcker, we unite two extraordinary estates in Rheinhessen and the Palatinate. The distinct soils, sites, and terroirs give our wines their unique character. What binds them all together is our family's clear signature and the meticulous craftsmanship we devote in the cellar every single day.
We cultivate both estates organically and sustainably out of deep conviction, holding both organic and Fair Choice certifications. But for my family and me, this goes far beyond official seals: our entire focus is on working in harmony with nature, nurturing living soils, and actively fostering biodiversity in our vineyards.
To me, this is the only way to create wines with true character that genuinely reflect their origin—distinctive, pure, and crafted with profound respect for nature.

Planning the next year
